Meet April McAnally, LPC-S for couples and individuals in Austin, TX

Empathetic, Experienced Counseling to Help You Heal, Connect, and Thrive

Hi, I’m April. Here’s How I Can Help You.

Feeling overwhelmed by life’s struggles—like anxiety, burnout, or conflict in your relationship? You’re not alone. Whether you grew up in a tough situation, are navigating work‑life stress, or struggling to communicate with your partner, I’m here to help you find relief and build a more meaningful life.

My Background and Approach

Before becoming a therapist, I spent 10 years in marketing and communications—so I understand the pressure of careers, new adulthood, and the stress of balancing life and work. After earning my MA in Counseling from St. Edward’s University and becoming an LPC‑S, I’ve trained extensively in EMDR, Compassion Fatigue, and Somatic Experiencing.

Education & Training:

  • MA, Counseling – St. Edward’s University

  • BS, Communication Studies – University of Texas at Austin

  • Licensed Professional Counselor – Supervisor (LPC-S)

  • EMDR Trained

  • Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional

  • Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner in training (Advanced Level)

  • Year-long intensive with Bonnie Badenoch (2021-2022)

Who I Work With

You might come to therapy because:

  • You grew up in a difficult or unpredictable environment.

  • You’ve been in unhealthy or abusive relationships.

  • You feel anxious, stressed, or burned out.

  • You’re looking for more meaning or connection—in yourself or with another.

Whether you’re seeking short-term support for a specific problem or ongoing therapy in multiple areas, I tailor our sessions to your unique needs.

A Little About Me

Outside of my work, I love Austin’s outdoor trails, trying new restaurants, and hanging with my family and our dog. I believe therapy is a collaborative journey—I’m here to listen, guide, and walk beside you.
